BAY AREA TEMPLE OUTREACH MISSION STATEMENT
Temple Outreach was established to help our Temple members in their times of need. Our goal is to offer opportunities for volunteers to provide loving service within the bounds of our Mother Center’s guidelines. Our activities include:
* Prayer Circle Prayers
The Bay Area Temple Prayer Circle is comprised of Temple volunteers who pray for our own Temple members and their immediate family. Submitted names require the permission of the recipient and remain active for 60 days. To submit requests, use The Bay Area Temple website link: https://bayareatemple-srf.org/temple-prayer-circle/
The SRF Worldwide Prayer Council is a separate service comprised of SRF monks, nuns and members around the globe who pray daily for all individuals whose names are submitted. Requests remain active for 90 days. Submit requests to either our Prayer Request Box located in the Special Events Room or online via: https://bayareatemple-srf.org/prayer-requests/#prayercouncil
* Sunshine Flowers
- A loving gift of flowers can be requested for Temple members who are in the hospital or who have lost a loved one.
- Requests should be submitted to our Sunshine Flowers coordinator,
* Friends of Outreach
These Friends are our volunteers who have offered to provide our members in need any of the following:
- support and encouragement
- assistance in finding resources for transportation to Temple services and activities, medical appointments and other important outings
- assistance in finding resources to meet needs during times of illness and other critical life events
- hospital, nursing home and home visits
- spiritual support for those nearing the end-of-life
- Volunteers added to the Friends of Outreach list are categorized by the geographic area they live in.
- They are called only on the occasion a fellow devotee in their area has a specific need.
- We encourage volunteers when called upon to honestly assess their own circumstances and availability before agreeing to offer a specific service.
- Volunteers may be asked to join to a team of devotees helping another.
- Volunteers may request to serve on the Outreach Core Committee which assesses all assistance requests and coordinates responses.
- The Committee and entire Temple membership are deeply grateful for the service our volunteers lovingly provide to our fellow SRF brothers and sisters and through them, to God and Master.
